Accidents can happen, anywhere, anytime. Would you know what to do if a child or infant requires first aid? Knowing how to provide proper care can save a child's life, prevent further illness or permanent injury, and help with healing and recovery. First aid can range from calling emergency medical personnel (911), to performing more advanced procedures such as administering CPR. Guidelines in this chart are specific to "non-health care professionals." Read this chart and become someone who knows what to do. All guidelines in this reference guide are in conjunction with the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, in collaboration with the American Heart Association, review and update the guidelines every five years. The next review is scheduled for 2015.
